Since its establishment in 1972, the IEWS has functioned as a gateway between Yonsei University and the world. It has pioneered the globalization of Yonsei through constant dialogue with the world, pursuing research projects on diverse regions of the world and actively interacting with other institutes. I believe that this institute has led the path for other Korean university-level research facilities to follow. In the tradition of the Institute are accumulated the continual efforts to understand and communicate with the world. The IEWS has founded twelve regional research groups, each devoted to the research of the economy, politics, society, culture and law of its corresponding region and constituent nations. The institute also operates seven research groups with a subject focus: maritime studies, Korean reunification, comparative culture, sustainable development, NPO, information society.....
